Rudolph GPS

December 5, 2003

You know George and Abraham and Henry and Edmund,
You know Thomas and Daniel and Benjamin and James,
But do you recall,
The most famous surveyor of all?

Randolph the GPS Surveyor
Had a very powerful receiver,
And if you ever saw it
You would easily become a believer.
All of the other surveyors
Used to laugh call him names.
They never let poor Randolph
Join in any beerleg games.

Then one early Monday morning,
The County Surveyor came to say,
Randolph with your GPS so right,
Won’t you measure the oblate at light?

Then how the surveyors loved him,
As they shouted out with glee,
Randolph the GPS Surveyor,
You’ll go down in history!

About the Artist

Wendell T. Harness

Wendell was a Land Surveyor for 26 years, then moved on to building websites for his second career. But he never lost sight of the surveying community and the other disciplines related to surveying. He’s purposely stayed involved in the surveying industry because he has always been — and will continue to be — a Land Surveyor at heart.
